PVC windows maintenance 

PVC windows are reliable and durable . They are easy to look after. They practically do not need redecoration and special service. However, this does not mean that they do need any care at all. There are some rules which need to be observed in order to prolong service life of your windows and keep them in order for many years.

 

PVC window profile treatment

It is necessary to clear windows with suds or with the special cleanser containing no solvent, abrasive substances, petrol or acetone. It is not recommended to use powder and abrasive cleansing pastes as surface can get rugged and loose polish. Cleanser should be only liquid. It should be applied to the frame surface with soft cloth and washed with water. Professional PVC product cleansers can be obtained in special shops.

 

Double-glazing units treatment

Double-glazing units, used in PVC window profiles are recommended to be cleaned with clear, warm water with small quantity of cleanser. It is not recommended to use aggressive substances or substances with dissolvent. 

 

Compressor treatment

Compressors provide for containment. They are produced from modern materials based on silicone. In order to make their service life longer and keep them flexible it is necessary to clean them with special cleansers once or twice a year. The best practice here is using substances, comprising silicone oil. Such treatment allows your window compressors to be elastic and water-repellent

 

Accessories treatment

PVC windows are equipped with high-quality accessories that should have long term of no-failure operation. The accessories manufacturers in general guarantee 30-40 thousand of openings. However, it is advised to observe fastening and critical part deterioration degree periodically. In order to clean the accessories as well as oil all the moving parts with acid- and resin-free substances it is necessary to carry out maintenance inspection once or twice a year, to oil.

 

Overflow treatment

The moisture accumulated inside the windows is withdrawn through offlets installed in every plastic window. They are situated in the bottom part of the frames, folds and horizontal transom-bars. It is necessary to carry out maintenance inspection of the overflow and clean them with the brush or any other nonmetallic item.
Window handle maintenance 

In case the window handle has become rickety, it is necessary to lift ornamental strip, situated under the handle, lift it from the vertical to horizontal direction and bolt it up.
Then place ornamental strip to its initial position.

 

PVC windows breath precautions  

All the compounds of PVC windows have very high density and hardly let the air through when closed. That is why in premises where such windows are installed moisture accumulates and condenses in the coolest parts of internal frame filling, which is in window profiles. In order to prevent such situation it is necessary to decrease air moisture in premises, regularly carry out aeration or install mandatory ventilation systems. In order to prevent breath on the internal glass surface it is necessary to ensure warm air flow from radiators, situated under the window.
